Who we are

Kapmo is a mobile app that delivers context-aware photography challenges.

Information we collect

• Account and contact: name and email for registered users; guest IDs for temporary use.
• App activity: challenge history, reroll counts, submissions, streaks, achievements, and related in-app actions.
• Location and weather context: approximate or precise location (with your permission) to tailor prompts; weather data retrieved using your location. You can disable location-based personalization in the app.
• Photos: images you capture and upload for challenges, plus validation feedback (scores and flags).
• Device and technical: device model, operating system, app version, push notification token, and basic diagnostics.
• Preferences: notification settings and reminder times.

How we collect information

• You provide it directly (account details, photos, preferences).
• Automatically from your device when using the app (logs, device/app info, push token).
• With permission from device sensors (camera, location) to power challenges.
• From service providers we use to run the app (e.g., weather data based on location).

How we use information

• Deliver, personalize, and improve challenges (including location- and weather-based prompts).
• Validate submissions with AI image checks, award points/streaks, and store your gallery.
• Send notifications for daily reminders, streak saves, and achievements (if enabled).
• Operate, maintain, secure, and debug the app; prevent abuse and enforce usage limits.
• Provide support and respond to requests.

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your data. We share only as needed to run Kapmo:

• Supabase: authentication, database, edge functions, and file storage.
• Google Gemini: prompt generation and image validation.
• Open-Meteo: weather context based on your location.
• Push notifications: Expo/Apple/Google services to deliver alerts.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.

Data retention

• Account and activity data are kept while your account remains active.
• Guest data is kept only as needed to enforce guest usage limits.
• Uploaded photos and validation feedback are retained for your gallery unless you delete them or request removal.
• We may retain certain information if necessary for legal, security, or compliance reasons.

Your choices and rights

• Permissions: You can disable location or camera in device settings; some features may be limited. You can also turn off location-based personalization in the app.
• Notifications: Manage or revoke push notifications in app settings or device settings.
• Access or deletion: You can delete your account in-app (Profile > Privacy & Location > Delete Account). If you close your account, we will delete or de-identify associated data unless retention is required for legal or security reasons.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, but no system is completely secure.

Children

Kapmo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

International transfers

Data may be processed or stored in countries other than your own. We take steps to help protect your information consistent with this policy.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will post changes with an updated effective date.
